Are you feeling it too? – January can feel very long and dull. Am I right? But it’s great to know that we’re almost through it, and there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months. I feel sure we all agree music is a great way to brighten up any day, and the past few months have seen some truly amazing releases. Therefore, it’s a good idea to take some time to appreciate the music that has helped us through the winter. And what better way to do that than listening to the newly curated “This Beat Is Poptronik 2024” playlist? Let’s turn up the volume and let some tunes lift our spirits!

This Beat is Poptronik 2024 playlist features…

We could hardly contain our excitement the other week when alt-pop’s Allie X unleashed the track “Off With Her Tits.” Not only is this song 100 per cent electronic (which makes us deliriously happy), with song lyrics powerful and thought-provoking, the song is without a doubt, the type of one-of-a-kind that only Allie X could bring to the table.

December is a difficult month to compete in, with the usual Christmas classics like Wham!, Pogues ft Kirsty McColl, Mariah Carey, and Michael Buble taking up their annual chart residence. At the time, it didn’t make sense why Olly Alexander (Years & Years) should release the track “A Very Bad Fun Idea” other than it being the title track from the upcoming movie “Bonus Track.” It’s bittersweet to note the song didn’t chart. Although, within a week of the track dropping we found out Olly is to represent the UK at Eurovision this year.

The whole debate about whether Ariana Grande sampled Madonna‘s “Vogue” or not became quite heated. However, in my opinion, she just channels the iconic song. But I do think that there is a clear tribute to Paula Abdul in the video. The video seems to be directly inspired by the one Abdul recorded in 1988 for her song “Cold Hearted“. It’s great to see present-day pop divas paying tribute to their peers. And that’s why “yes, and?” deserves to be highly placed on the “This Beat Is Poptronik 2024” playlist.

Whatever you do, you should not miss these gems from Nic Billington, Bright Light Bright Light, Margaret Berger, Dua Lipa, Oh Land, Samira and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Some emerging artists for your radar…

Classically trained artist Micah McLaurin switches it up. Takes a leap into the future with debut disco-pop anthem “MOONS.” Micah is the embodiment of living life authentically as he celebrates the song’s message of realizing the freedom to love. Since “MOONS” just got the remix treatment from Troye Sivan collaborator/RuPaul’s Drag Race songwriter and producer Leland. Therefore, concerning Micah, I feel it’s fair to say, watch this space…

In fact, it would be rather strange if Talia Mar were not one to watch out for in 2024. With her talent and versatility, she is sure to make a significant impact. I didn’t really connect with the debut singles a lot simply because they didn’t appeal to me style-wise. However, the latest release, “Bored“, hones a noughties banger aesthetic that in my opinion gives off Sugababes vibes.

Tsatsamis is an emerging electronic artist who exhibits a unique sound and style. It is a good idea to have him on your radar. Especially bearing in mind a sophomore EP, “Our Shame“, is out soon. In the meantime, however, I highly recommend checking out the recent releases, “Everybody Wants a Piece of You” and “Let Go.” A rising star in electronic music, Tsatsamis utilizes a style both distinctive and unique, inspired by queer culture and sexual identity. He also just remixed the track “You Want My...” for Bright Light Bright Light. Similarly, with such a fantastic endorsement from Rod (he has impeccable taste,) we know we are doing right by backing Tsatsamis.

Hey there! Since the last “This Beat is Poptronik” playlist update in June, a lot has happened in the music world.

The summer months have been abuzz with album releases from some of the biggest names in the industry. It’s been a period of incredible experiences where I have relished getting stuck in, championing and supporting the latest album releases from Troye Sivan, Georgia, Kylie Minogue, OMD, Moyka, Kim Petras and Romy. As we head into Fall 2023, as your EQ hosts, Raj and I, are excited to present a new and exciting playlist for all your cosy days at home and away. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, expect to hear some of the best pop, electronic and indie tracks released in Q2. Are you ready? Let’s unpack, “This Beat Is Poptronik – Fall 2023“…

This Beat Is Poptronik” – Fall 2023 features…

In July, Troye Sivan returned with a dance track, “Rush.” The first single from his third album, “Something To Give Each Other.” This Latin-influenced track was supported with a steamily choreographed video that we have on replay in our heads whenever we listen to “Rush.” In our opinion, this is more than a good enough reason to peg it at the top of the playlist.

We didn’t see this one coming from The Killers, “Your Side of Town.” Since, listening to the track, I couldn’t help but notice the similarities to the music styles of Pet Shop Boys (musically) and New Order (melody/top-line). This epic, impactful track will surely pique the interest of 80s music fans especially.

For the 35th anniversary. The Cash Cash remix of “Tell It To My Heart” has the iconic dance hit up to date. The fact that Taylor Dayne rerecorded the vocal on this new 2023 version just adds to its appeal. Her powerhouse voice still sounds as amazing as ever.

Speaking of comebacks, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, (OMD) really played a blinder on the new album “Bauhaus Staircase“. A massive win for electronic music this year, bulldozing in at #2 in the Official album charts. So many rich pickings from this release, but feel “Veruschka,” is particularly spellbinding. Highly cinematic and fans of The Sound Of Arrows, in particular, are sure to love it.

Besides the above. Embedded in “This Beat Is Poptronik” – Fall 2023 playlist there’s more gems not to be missed from… Sia, Bananarama, Harry Styles, Lauv, Bright Light Bright Light, Zee Machine and Georgia.

Some emerging artists for your radar…

I have waxed lyrical on EQ Music Blog about Nic Billington for years. His music style is electronic with a dark pop aesthetic. There is no doubt whatever Nic puts out is consummate, slick, and stylish. The latest release, a reimagining of Billy Idol‘s track “White Wedding” is super hot in more ways than one. (Ahem… I will say no more than check out the must-see video)

I have lost count of how many times Bentley Robles has featured on the blog this year. With confidence, I can say the “Ugly Crier” EP is a testament to Bentley’s growth as an artist. His takeover of the pop scene is seen through a magic music formula of electro-pop and confessional lyrics.

Chappell Roan – “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl“. I do feel that countries outside the USA, including the UK, still have some catching up to do when it comes to recognizing the talent of this young artist. She is a tenacious pop spirit with exuberance in abundance. Stay tuned… I think Chappell has got what it takes to be the next big pop star.

Quirky pop star! Babymorocco is here to slay with doses of groovealicious electro-pop, thumpa thumpa basslines and pure unadulterated donk. The track “Everyone” is taken from the debut EP “The Sound.” This makes for a groovalicious experience, comprised of hyper-pop beats reminiscent of the music by Calvin Harris and Basshunter from the 2000s. It’s rare to come across music like this in 2023, but this EP resoundingly delivers.

Check out Khazali for easy-listening pop songs with a touch of synths, catchy melodies and lyrics worth listening to. Tracks “Did It For Love” and “Magic” are a perfect blend of soulful funky groove and heated-up aesthetic.

Stay ready for another thrilling update to this playlist as the year comes to a close! We can’t wait to share more of our music taste with you, including more of the latest, “This Beat Is Poptronik” news. So make sure to stay tuned for an updated playlist that will undoubtedly get you moving and grooving!

Tick tock, tick tock, buzz, buzz, our alarm just went off… Is it already time to update the “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist again? It feels like only yesterday we were adding new tracks to the March update. But, as always, we’ve got you covered with the latest and greatest pop hits. We appreciate you’re all busy bees and understand if a killer track or two may have escaped your ears. Therefore, we’ve curated this playlist just for you. With “This Beat Is Poptronik playlist – June 2023,” you’ll never miss a beat. It’s the perfect playlist to download and jam out to on-the-go. So turn up the volume and tune out the rest of the world. Are you ready? Let’s go!

June 2023 features…

There are no prizes for guessing what track has “Padam Padam“(ed) on its way to the opening slot of the June playlist. Needless to say, the one and only Aussie pop Princess Kylie Minogue takes up residence at the top spot in what is her first appearance of three features in this update. You can also catch her amazing vocals on “Voices” with Jake Shears and “10 out of 10” with Oliver Heldens.

Also of note and steaming its way into the playlist is the seismic collaboration of Sam Smith and Madonna, they really go all in on their statement pop piece “Vulgar.” An especially fitting anthem for those who celebrate their individuality through self-expression.

Following her victory at Eurovision, Loreen has more than earned her spot on the place playlist with the wholly captivating winning song “Tattoo.”

Whatever you do, you should not miss these gems from Alison Goldfrapp, Georgia, Bright Light Bright Light, Tia Kofi, MUNA, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Romy.

Some emerging artists for your radar:

I’ve been following Rose Gray‘s career for a while now, and her recent track “Ecstasy” really caught my attention. Her music has always been great, but this new release just has that extra something special that makes it stand out. And now with “Happiness,” she’s done it again – combining dancefloor-friendly beats with pop sensibility to create a track that’s impossible not to love.

Lunar June treads a path of sonic bliss with her dreamy electronic pop reawakening. The debut EP, “jaded/faded,” is evidence of Lunar’s prodigious talent and great potential. Further, affirming that the music she is currently making has much to enthral.

It is rare for a newcomer to hold nothing back. And ALF clearly knows what he wants to convey in his songs. There is a great deal of lyrical bite embodied in lines like “Letting you just rip me apart to fill my heart’s void, You’re killing me.” In terms of music, this track packs a notable punch. Yet, the vocals are suitably endearing. Undoubtedly he comes into his element when song-writing. In any event, I fully expect ALF to gain momentum.

Gabi Goldman is a talented musician with an absolutely magnetic voice. Her debut track, “Body Heat,” is a shimmering masterpiece that will inevitably catch the attention of anyone who loves lush, gorgeous pop music with meaningful lyrics.

Feel free to explore “This Beat Is Poptronik playlist June 2023” at your own pace. You never know, you may just stumble upon your new favourite track or artist! If you enjoy the poptronik playlist, why not tell your friends about it? It would mean the world to us if you could nudge them in the direction of subscribing too. We love sharing our music taste with you and can’t wait to bring you more “This Beat Is Poptronik” news and an updated playlist soon. Stay tuned!…

Dear reader. Were you among the many lovely people who made it down to our EQ Music Live show on Wednesday? Those of you who joined us for our first showcase of the year may have noticed we had background music playing in between the artist sets from Ocean Tisdall, Sofi Vonn and TIN. What you were hearing just above the pleasant hum of socialising and chatter, was in fact, the first play anywhere of our This Beat Is Poptronik” Playlist – March 2023 Spotify playlist. Without bias. I thought the latest update we curated of the playlist sounded extra spectacular in this edition.

MARCH 2023 features…

Choosing a contender for the opening spot on our “This Beat Is Poptronik,” playlist was not an easy decision to make on this occasion. We went back and forth between P!NK and Samira multiple times before finally settling on the seriously catchy club-bound bomb “Like This, Like That“, the debut track by Samira. Therefore, “TRUSTFALL” by P!NK slipped to number two on the list. Yet it is still a bona fide electro-pop stomper, in our opinion.

Because of the twenty-four years pause between the old stuff and the latest songs. We had to mark the return of Everything But The Girl with both blissful new tracks “Nothing Left To Lose” and “Caution To The Wind.”

We have never hidden our lifelong adoration of Depeche Mode. Therefore it was always a given that our favourite electronic stalwarts would make it through the playlist selection process with their melancholy, lyrically articulate and compelling track “Ghosts Again” – the first single from the upcoming fifteenth studio album “Memento Mori.” which is released on March 24th.

A new remix of the Madonna track “Sorry” recently impacted the internet as well – did you hear? The reworking by BLOND:ISH, Eran Hersh and Darmon was unleashed to coincide with the seventeenth anniversary of the track’s original release – furthermore making good use of Madonna’s back catalogue to make her songs even more relevant for Generation Z. The eagle-eyed among you may have noted I did not write about this update of “Sorry” on the blog. We felt the new version perfectly suits the playlist better.

Whatever you do, you should not miss these gems from PG Roxette, Sean Smith, Le FIL, ZEE MACHINE and Lemar. It goes without saying that you should also be paying attention to Sofi Vonn, Ocean Tisdall and TIN and discover their excellent music as well.

Put these emerging artists on your radar:

JORDY remains a favourite emerging artist of mine, whom I have written about countless times on the blog. Most recently I featured the track “Story Of A Boy” and I am uber excited about his upcoming sophomore album, “BOY“. JORDY is a songwriter with a remarkable way of saying things exactly how they are, meaningful and with eloquence. Without a doubt, he is poised for stardom.

Of course, Samira is not the first star on stage or screen to embark on a music career, and neither will she be the last. Yet with a song as enormous and earworm-worthy as, “Like This, Like That,” speaking truthfully, this is a launch on a colossal scale. She has undeniable star quality, dare I say it. As early as we are into 2023, undoubtedly, it is one of the boldest and most exciting pop songs of this year so far.

There is no doubt Grace Gaustad is turning heads and could also be the next global pop sensation. Each and every track they share with us is proof of that. Grace has earned cosigns from Lady Gaga and Mick Jagger and they know better what makes a bona fide pop star, probably more than anyone.

Because of masses of pop potential and the cracking tune “Salvatore“. I sense Bentley Robles is on course to make big waves in 2023. At the very least, it would be a good idea that you have him on your radar as we do.

Our reason for curating our This Beat Is Poptronikplaylists is to help you discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself. Following us on Spotify is a good way of never missing out on updates in the first instance. If you like more info and insight about what you have listened to and discovered. Remember this? It’s our EQ Music Blog playlist:- “This Beat Is Poptronik” – January 2023. Admittedly, it has been a while since we updated the playlist. However, as it is New Year. We thought we would take another shot at it. While recognising that we posted about some incredible songs on the blog lately. We have compiled a new list for ourselves and for you, also, our readers. To ultimately assist us all with avoiding an unwelcome dose of the January blues.

Recap begins…

JANUARY 2023 features…

In November, with the arrival of his new song, “Satisfaction,Darin turned the heat up with a different level of hotness. As a matter of fact, the track is not only, hotter than hot, but it is also a pivotal transition in his life and music career.

The Sugababes (Siobhan Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchannan) dropped their album “The Lost Tapes” on Christmas eve. These are much spoken-about and sought-after tracks that have lain in the Sugababes vault for years. To celebrate. We felt it suitably fitting the MNEK co-write “Drum” gets a prominent feature on “This Beat Is Poptronik” -January 2023.

Ava Max’s latest electrifying pop cut. “Dancing’s Done” exhibits an epic dance floor sound. And owns a stylistically strong 80s electro-pop vibe. It is a track that makes no excuse for what it is. A song about love and lust. (Although, not necessarily in this order.)

Whatever you do, you should not miss these gems from ALMA, Nic Billington, JORDY, Initial Talk ft Sam Sparro, PJ Brennan and Zac Poor.

Put these emerging artists on your radar:

In my opinion. In “Hey Cowboy,” Devon Cole, an alt-pop singer-songwriter from Toronto released only the second funniest song of 2022. She showed that powerful lyricism paired with a fun-loving dose of playfulness creates a powerful and addictive mix.

Adam Evans is in his infancy as an independent artist. Yet the signs are good as his burgeoning pop career takes off. As a result of sharing raw and honest vulnerability while soul-searching in his songs. In the tracks “Hypothetically” and “BITE ME!,“ Adam Evans demonstrates his undeniable talent. This, in my opinion, is proof positive why he is an artist to watch.

Musically drawing comparisons with Kate Bush and Foxes. The album “The Words” demonstrates Liz Cass as one of the most promising intelligent pop acts to break through this year.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you. With Sam Short, we see beyond the TikTok hype. Listening to “Taste It,” is a slice of heartbreak pop art. Equally. The details that are so intense and raw.

With every release, Alexander Stewart creates, even more, one- to-watch buzz. It isn’t any wonder he applies his craft to heartbreak and sad pop songs. Since he is blessed with a super emotive vocal. In addition, his delivery is extremely moving. In fact, almost every song he releases is sent viral within days, if not hours. His talent is undeniable. Look out for him. Since with a handful of tracks to his name, he is only warming up.

However, please do feel free to explore the playlist. Discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself. Tell your friends about our playlist if you like. An even better idea would be to nudge them toward subscribing. (It would make us stupidly happy if you did this) Check back for more “This Beat Is Poptronik” news and an updated playlist sometime soon.

Hello everyone, how are you doing? … ha, ha I have an inbox of emails, each asking me precisely the same question. Let me respond on behalf of us all by saying that I am not having an easy time right now but thank you for asking. There I said it! The world outside of music continues to be a lot, be kind to yourselves friends. Let’s just talk about music instead, shall we? I cannot lie January and February kept me on my toes with new music releases. A lot of hot tunes excited me. Time to update our Spotify playlist “This Beat Is Poptronik” and recap.

MARCH 2022 features…

Robyn has pulled off an incredible reimagining/cover of Neneh Cherry’s seminal classic “Buffalo Stance.” Neneh features alongside Mapei, with production by Dev Hynes. Amazing.

Nic Billington consistently delivers electronic-pop excellence. Incredibly, with the new release “Homesick” he pushes the bar higher still. (If you came along, Nic gave us a sneak peek of this song at EQ Music Live in October).

In January, Darren Hayes surprised everyone with his first solo release in 10 years, “Let’s Try Being In Love“. This is a glorious track with a powerful video in tow. Darren Hayes makes huge strides for queer representation. We love to see it!

Don’t miss these gems from The Knocks with Dragonette, Myylo, Betty Boo, Josef Salvat, Camden Cox and Osvaldo Supino.

Put these on your radar:

If there are any doubters in the house, the ascent of DYLAN is happening before our eyes. I definitely see her following a similar path to that of Baby Queen. It is of no consequence, being that King Ed both writes and produces Baby Queen, also. Track of the moment is “No Romeo

A shiny new mega pop star. Ocean Tisdall gives us dreamy, vocal chops, teamed with incredible songwriting on “White Lies“. Whenever someone compares a new artist to Troye Sivan or Lauv, I usually roll my eyes. This time, I am not making such a gesture. Ocean Tisdall does indeed remind me a bit of both of these artists. Get on board now…

At the first glimpse of this duo, I thought STAY GLDN were onto something special. “Dead Ends, Fake Friends,” proves my thinking as correct. The subtle, soft, pop style is definitely obsession-worthy. This duo reminds me of bands like St. Lucia, Aquilo, and Gypsy & The Cat as examples that produce gorgeous soundscapes. Vocal comparison, Bright Light Bright Light.

In all honesty, Teddy at Night left quite an impression on me. It is not every day I hear music as enthralling as his electrifying blend of power pop. Vibrant electro-rock is how I describe his sound. Give “Stole Your Lover” a listen.

We got an enticing first glimpse at the Milan-raised/LA-based artist Nieri, with the dance-pop meets club-worthy anthem “Beautiful Music“. An endorphin raising introduction – sexy electro-pop vibes.

Please DO, go and explore the playlist and discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself. Tell your friends about our playlist if you like. even better nudge them to subscribe. (It would make us stupidly happy if you did this 😊 ) Check back for more “This Beat Is Poptronik” news and an updated playlist sometime soon.

Surprise everyone! Guess our readers might not have expected to see this from us yet, but. We decided to get our year-end summing up tied up early this year, simply because why not. We have put together another “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist for your listening pleasure. Dive in for a listen HERE.

To be honest, 2021 was another challenging twelve months that we don’t wish to dwell on too much. Know we are thankful for science and for Covid vaccines. The return of live music, the arts and all entertainment events. (i.e. the core of what lies at the heart of EQ Music Blog).

Our year-end 2021 playlist is choc-full with over 15 hours of killer, pop, electronic and alternative tracks. You’ll find everything from massive hits to indie gems.

We hope your ears are ready for the poptasticness of “This Is Beat Is Poptronik – Year-End 2021” edition which awaits you …

You will find established artists such as Years and Years, Kylie, MARINA, Sigrid, CHVRCHES, Troye Sivan and Charli XCX. Alongside the best break out acts of 2021, (in our opinion) Kim Petras, Griff, Mimi Webb, Baby Queen, Self Esteem, Holly Humberstone, Gracey and Alfie Templeman.

As you would expect, there is a healthy sprinkling of our long-time blog favourites also making appearances. Max Barskih, Sergey Lazarev, Avec Sans, morgxn, Greyson Chance, Darin, Hayley Kiyoko, Autoheart and Allie X, to name but a few.

I could give a shout out to many more names featured on the playlist. Yet, I am going to nip this summary in the bud. Stopping short before I traverse the line of sounding like I am making, crazy long-ass acceptance speech. As is the done thing at the Oscar’s.

Music has been our saviour. Our friend in times of need. Our comfort in times of struggle. We curated this playlist with only this thought in our minds. That you, our readers, discover some great tunes and artists that you might have overlooked in 2021.

We give thanks to all the artists who helped us through 2021. You are all stars in our eyes.

I am hedging a bet, nobody would likely be interested if I were to type up a brief recap of the events which defined 2020. I feel the whole year is best laid to rest – R.I.P.

Pop music, on the other hand, faired much better, giving us lots of great tracks, singles and albums. Being that lists are, so last decade. We’ve instead archived all the very best pop, electronic and indie tracks of 2020 into one mega playlist, and not so surprisingly called it This Beat Is Poptronik 2020. Dive in HERE.

If ever there was a time for a disco resurgence 2020 was the moment in time we needed it most. November and December are quieter months on the music calendar. That said, electronic, pop and indie-pop continued to be pretty amazing. Let’s remember November & December 2020, as compiled on the January 2021 edition of the “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist.

JANUARY 2021

Who is featured?

With his homage to one of the biggest, charting female singers of the mid-80s and early 90s. Adam Joseph cleverly celebrated “Whitney Houston.” So much so, he turned the titles of Whitney’s iconic hits and well-loved tracks into the lyrics of his song. Totally 80s tastic!

The super-cute pop track “Trust Issues” from London-based singer-songwriter Liv Dawson. Will be up your street if you have a penchant for lush, dreamy pop with a personal lyrical touch.

If your not familiar with Rina Sawayama now is the time to get acquainted. “Lucid” beckons us to dance and solidifies her pop power status.

The synth-pop vibes are strong on Armin van Buuren ft. Duncan Laurence collaboration “Feel Something.” Emotive, vulnerable lyrics still rule.

Don’t miss gems from MARINA, Troye Sivan x Kacey Musgraves x Mark Ronson, Georgia, Max & Harvey, Gwen Stefani

Who you should have on your radar:

Through music, Jared Gelman unapologetically explores the darkness, the weirdness and the sparkly stuff about himself. It just so transpires is the latest offering, “Impulsive” is his best to date.

People have been calling Blake Rose out as one to watch during the last couple of years. The arrival of Joel Adams co-write “Lost” is a seismic shift in music direction and has us enthusiastically invested in what lies ahead.

Swedish synth-pop duo. If you’re looking for a musical comparative The Lovers Of Valdaro with “Eternal Embrace” sound somewhat similar to The Sound Of Arrows. Both bands are interstellar in our eyes.

Explore the playlist and discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself on “This Beat Is Poptronik”.

Now that’s what I call electronic pop!

Am I right in thinking, that a playlist with a chilled vibe is what we need as we head into lockdown once again? The music Gods seem to have foreseen our needs, because much of the last few weeks music releases have delivered, dreamy, emotive, synth-wave grooves. Even pop became more thoughtful and lyrically poignant throughout the month. Whereas the EDM and indie genres have been keeping on doing what they do. You know the drill by now, we selected and wrote about the best new tracks, (as many as we could guzzle down our ears.) From those tracks, we’ve lovingly compiled, the November 2020, edition of the “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist. With the hope that you will pop it into your ears when you feel you need to escape from the barrage of gloomy news bulletins, for a bit.

NOVEMBER 2020
Who is featured…?

I was over the moon synth-pop band Avec Sans gave our ears a jolt with their eargasmic track “Altitude.” The opening slot on the playlist is all theirs, it’s no less than they deserve.

I was similarly, super happy to see SHAED back. The ear-worm melody of “No Other Way” hasn’t left my head, since I wrote about the track over, two whole weeks ago.

On the flip-side, the best of the chilled vibes came from Eighty Ninety with “Better As Friends” and “Waste Your Time” from Meet Me in Orbit respectively.

Who has the best, thoughtful and poignant pop, release out at the moment…we voted unanimously on this one, Mickey Taylor’s collaboration with Lostchild on “Jokes,” came through as the outright winner.

Don’t miss gems from Sophie Ellis-BextorR3HAB, Astrid S & HRVYHarry StylesCyndi LauperIcona Pop X Sofi TukkerJosh Wantie and Conor Maynard.

Who you should have on your radar:

I know its a dance-pop track but, I really like the 220 Kid & JC Stewart track “Too Many Nights” a lot. Both artists are breaking out this year. Hot tips for tastemakers end of year lists? They should at least get mentions.

Clinton John is bringing the exact kind of musical vibes we love here on EQ Music Blog. The Nashville singer-songwriter pens, authentic, pop songs which resonate with soulfulness and intimacy. Check out “Fresh.”

HYYTS caught my attention since being picked up by Warner Records UK, in particular with the latest efforts which are co-written with Rationale and produced by Starsmith. The silky smooth and dreamy synth-pop of “SOS” is definitely, the kind of music I can quickly become obsessed with, how about you?

I am a bit late with jumping on the GRIFF bandwagon. The collaboration with Zedd on “Inside Out” is proper stunning and has turned me into an instant stan. I strongly URGE you to watch GRIFF’s recent live performance from The Tate Tanks. I don’t, say this lightly, it has nudged its way into top-position as my favourite live stream performance of the year. It is no mean feat, believe me, I have watched a ton of these streams since they took off this year.

Please DO go and explore the playlist and discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself. Share it with your friends if you like (It would make us stupidly happy if you did this 😉 )

We’ll update you again on “This Beat Is Poptronik” news sometime soon.
