While watching who is bringing the heat in the Swedish music scene, actor and singer Omar Rudberg stands out. The former FO&O boy band member is a well-known presence in the Swedish music scene, as a solo artist. It is fair to say his role as Simon Eriksson in the Netflix series Young Royals, introduced him to the international stage. Moreover, where interest in the young performer has picked up greatly. Hence the growing attention around him has also meant his music releases have gained a wider audience. In fact, pop fans from London to Los Angeles can’t get enough of Omar’s Latin-infused style of pop and dreamy, smooth vocals. We know this because all dates on his recent debut headline tour SOLD OUT.

Omar sings both in Swedish and English although, his latest EP, “Every Night Fantasy,” is his first complete body of work solely in English. Notably, the EP offers an eclectic mix of eight tracks. Where Omar showcases his entire musical spectrum—from pulsing, danceable rhythms to deep emotional ballads. Additionally, among the new tracks is a Spanish version of ”Red Light”—a tribute to Omar’s Venezuelan roots and a reflection of his global ambitions.

However, the latest focus track “Girlfriend” sees Omar influenced stylistically by 90s boy band pop. Using a style notably, that is recognizably reminiscent of *NSYNC. Similarly, he echoes the 90s theme in an Adam Falk-directed music video, wherein a solo dance routine he flexes some pretty funky moves. As far as I am concerned, I would like to see a little more experimenting in this style. Although, I am confident, he will achieve the international breakthrough he seeks, soon.

The one London date on the tour, was the UK’s only chance as yet to check out Omar Rudberg live. However, all hope is not lost if you were not one of the lucky ones this time. Omar is among a host of artists who will perform at Mighty Hoopla 2025, including Allie X, Tom Aspaul, Tom Rasmussen, VINCINT and Bentley Robles.

The horrible truth is, I have a need to be extra selective with my music choices to write about at the moment. I am preparing to go away on my summer holiday in a few days. Thus, my time is at a premium just now. More than ever, I am sharing with our readers the new music which strikes a chord with me most. It may surprise readers that I am digging into a song written to promote a leading cannabis-infused beverage in collaboration with Weedmaps. But not without good reason, I am gunning for this track. Founded by queer people, Drink Producer Cann is an established company. They launch their pride campaign for 2022 with the anthem “Taste So Good” (The Cann Song). The song and video feature an all-star diverse cast from the LGBTQ+ community.

Independent pop singer-songwriter VINCINT is joined by Hayley Kiyoko and MNEK on this Leland-penned track. Also along for the ride is pop royalty Kesha, who links up for a verse of her own.

Botanical infused beverages may not appeal to everyone. That said. The market for drinks boosting health benefits such as those associated with CBD is starting to fill up supermarket shelves alongside hard seltzer and kombucha. It is an immense growth area and strand of the plant-based revolution. It was only a matter of time before drinks of these kinds received the full-blown promotion treatment to rival Coca Cola and Pepsi.

The lyrics
“A little different can taste so good (taste so good). What a feeling (I knew it would, I knew it would).” Also, apply when celebrating our differences. And why in this campaign, support from the LGBTQ+ community works two-fold.

The track is that good. That if we were to block out all mentions of the drink campaign, the song would still hold up on its own and proudly.

The song got me pure and simple. Together with the rallying message it sends. Why else would I commit to writing about a product available in the USA only and not the UK, where I am based? “Taste So Good” primary use may be that of an advertisement, but I’ll say this. The track from VINCINT ft Hayley Kiyoko and MNEK is a whole lot better than many of the pop songs released in recent weeks.

Emerging Artists: EYJAA https://eqmusicblog.com/emerging-artists-eyjaa/ Fri, 08 Oct 2021 13:10:46 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=31028 Introducing EYJAA and "The Wrecking Crew" A gentle, swoony slice of dreaminess where their angelic, harmonised voices take centre stage.

We have been writing about and bringing to your attention more than a good share of musical sister duos in music pop over the years. (With Tegan and Sara, Electrovamp, The Bloom Twins, Say Lou Lou, and REYNA being good examples of such). I am hoping that the newly formed Danish-Icelandic sister duo EYJAA might prove to have as much staying power as the aforesaid, sister pop acts. Because of being built around a catchy riff. Sara and Brynja garnered a fair bit of attention when releasing their debut track “Don’t Forget About Me” in February this year. They’ve returned with the follow up “The Wrecking Crew“. A gentle, swoony slice of dreaminess where their angelic, harmonised voices take centre stage.

Listen on Apple Music

The Wrecking Crew” is a song where the sister’s question their happiness.

“Going through life, we all experience challenges that we tend to overthink or simply misunderstand within ourselves. “The Wrecking Crew” is about how you are never alone with your thoughts. Really, it can be just as beautiful to be sad as it can, to be happy. It’s just human emotions, and they are not unknown to any of us.” EYJAA, state.

What I liked about this song is that it has an understated kind of elegance. Of the style, Nordic pop artists do, especially, well. Their voices are silky and graceful. The melody, gorgeous and breezy. When is it best to listen to “The Wrecking Crew“? I would advise it best to tune into this track when you are yearning for moments of solitude. Seeking peacefulness and calm. An excellent choice to heighten the experience of taking in a spectacular view of mountains, the sea or, by just looking up at a beautiful ocean blue sky. Luxuriating in a bubbly bath or by practising meditation. The lovely soothing allure while, being beautifully composed, is also a helpful aid to stress-busting.

Thought-provoking lyricism. Where a lively melody and positive vibe go hand in hand. I was wondering why they struck upon naming themselves EYJAA. After listening to “The Wrecking Crew” I think I worked it out. It is because when you listen to their music, your first response to it is likely to be, aww. Which is kind of similar in sound to their name.

Listen to “Getaway” by VINCINT ft Tegan and Sara https://eqmusicblog.com/listen-to-getaway-by-vincint-ft-tegan-and-sara/ Tue, 15 Jun 2021 12:11:20 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=30487 Spellbinding. VINCINT links up with Tegan and Sara for "Getaway" a sparkling, euphoric highlight from VINCINT's album "There Will be Tears"

I distinctly remember writing about VINCINT last year and commenting about the collaboration on “Be Me” with Fly by Midnight. “Everyone involved with, this release has well-honed skills. Probably won’t be the one and only time you hear about VINCINT on this blog either”. I declared. Now seems as good as time as any to check back in on all things VINCINT, not least because he’s marked the release of his debut album “There Will Be Tears” by shining a light on a collaboration with Tegan and Sara on the track “Getaway“. Also because the album is extremely good and is one that should be added to your essential listening lists.

There has been a heavy collaborative accent on the single releases lifted off of this album, with featured guests spots by Alex Newell, Parson James and Qveen Herby. Most interestingly the team-up with Tegan and Sara occurred after VINCINT expressed his yearning to work with the sisters, with a shout-out over Twitter. Clearly, the strategy has worked because the Canadian twin-sister duo has hopped on the track “Getaway” lending their impassioned vocals, in turn giving an extra splash of glitter to the shimmering synth-pop package.

Listen on Apple Music

The track is uplifting in style, and a notable highlight from the album. It is written as a celebration of finding someone and forming an instant connection with them. Like the initial awkwardness stage, doesn’t exist and everything about being with this person fits like a glove. And that you feel that you’ve known them a lifetime, although it’s only been like five minutes. It’s a truly special feeling, that doesn’t come around so often, but when it does. It is like the biggest of natural euphoric highs you can experience. And yes we are talking about ultra, glowing, cloud nine feelings.

Of the album. Through it all, VINCINT’s mission has been clear: “I make music to make you cry and make you dance,” he says. “But most importantly, to make you feel something.”

As far as I am concerned, that something would be pretty much immersed into the stunning music artistry found on the album “There Will Be Tears“. Check it out at your earliest opportunity, you will not be disappointed.

Depending on how switched onto the world of entertainment you’ve been during recent times you may or may not be aware the fifth season of “Queer Eye” (USA) premiered on Netflix a short while ago. I must confess I haven’t checked out the stateside version yet, I do know something of the format as I tuned into the UK version of the show when it ran here some years back. In America, the series has been on TV screens longer than anywhere else in the world and still remains popular viewing. Like with any long with-standing entertainment programme, music and soundtracks also have a prominent part to play. Philadelphia native VINCINT knows this all too well, he’s recorded the track “Be Me” for the Emmy Award-winning series.

First used in the official trailer for the latest season of “Queer Eye.” Empowerment anthem “Be Me“, co-written and produced by the Fly by Midnight, now has an official music video, to call its, own. It made sense to support the release with a visual, which is both based upon the format and also pays homage to the TV series.

What a lovely shout-out but equally VINCINT should also take a bow. Happy to have his voice heard on EQ music blog today. Sometimes we need to hear a reassuring voice, “Be Me” is that, albeit rolled into a short, two and half minute pop song. I don’t know, how VINCINT and the Fly By Midnight boys did it. But they managed to get so much said in the briefest amount of time. Everyone involved with, this release has well-honed skills. Probably won’t be the one and only time you hear about VINCINT on this blog either.
