Each track serves as an effective club banger, demonstrating his potential as an influential crossover figure in the pop and club scenes. In fact, listening to “Amour” in conjunction with Charli XCX‘s “BRAT” reveals a thoughtful transition between the two albums. Thus showcasing a shared innovative spirit. Building on his impressive debut, Babymorocco has now unleashed a deluxe edition titled “Amour: The Jean Paul Deluxe,” enhancing the listening experience and his artistic exploration further.

So now comes “Amour: The Jean Paul Edition“. This is a four-track intro and conclusion to Amour, showcasing its key figure. Jean Paul is more than just a remix or added bonus tracks. As Babymorocco puts it, “he’s a rupture. A split. A mirror cracked!!” This deluxe offering mixes club vibes, and some deep ideas. Inspired by performance artists like Nikki S. Lee, who really dove into different subcultures and became the subject. Babymorocco creates characters that reflect both self-erasure and self-expansion. Moreover, encouraging listeners to explore these experiences.

“The Boys & The Girls” is the opening track from the deluxe release that effectively captures attention. This vibrant hyper-electro tune serves as a thoughtful platform for Babymorocco’s exploration of religious iconography within a pop context. By intentionally not specifying sexuality, the song skillfully addresses the complexities of personal identity and the uncertainty of romantic connections, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own journeys of self-discovery and belonging.

By translating these themes into a visual realm, this project, self-directed by Babymorocco, crafts a compelling and loose retelling of Adam and Eve. It’s a daring choice, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Babymorocco as he explores such creative avenues. The project, aptly named “Amour,” resonates deeply and is unmistakably fitting.

Alongside the video release, Babymorocco announces The Jean Paul Tour 2025 across the UK, Europe and the US later this year. The tour takes in special headline shows at London’s Village Underground, El Cid in Los Angeles, New York City’s Elsewhere Zone One, and more.

As I endeavour to catch up on all the exciting music releases that debuted while I was enjoyiny my summer holiday. I am particularly eager to draw attention to Princess Nokia‘s latest track, “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” Although rap isn’t typically the first genre I gravitate toward when exploring new sounds. Nevertheless, I found myself unexpectedly captivated when the song surfaced on my YouTube recommendations. From the moment I pressed play, I was hooked. Thanks mainly to its distinctive, wonky bass line that adds a layer of depth and rhythm, paired with lyrics that are both candid and thought-provoking. This track isn’t just music; it tells a story that resonates, making it an essential listen for those looking to enrich their playlists with something vibrant and unique.

From the very first note, the electro-pop melody captivated me. Yet it was the compelling lyrical narrative that truly hooked me. Princess Nokia serves up a vibrant summer anthem that celebrates bold femininity. It’s no easy task to follow in the footsteps of Charli XCX‘s unforgettable “BRAT,” yet Princess Nokia confidently makes her mark with the audacious matriarchal anthem “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” This track demands attention and resonates with a rebellious spirit that is impossible to ignore.

The visual directed by Sebastian Cabrera Chelin embodies the daring spirit of the suggestive. A bad girl lyrical narrative, showcasing Princess Nokia as she hosts an unforgettable summer gathering with her close friends. This vibrant depiction presents their version of fun, moreover, embracing spontaneity, seizing the day, and fully living in the moment. Rather than simply depicting rebellious behaviour, the video is a stunning tribute to the strength and beauty of womanhood, celebrating sisterhood in all forms.

Princess Nokia is currently generating excitement for her forthcoming album “GIRLS“, which includes the single “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” While she has not yet revealed specifics for the album. Early indications suggest that it will adopt a more pop-oriented sound, distinguishing it from earlier works. She describes this anticipated work, she refers to it as an “endless sleepover,” highlighting its fun and carefree vibe. She further characterises it as a “summer playlist” and a “soundtrack to your best friends,” emphasising the album’s focus on friendship and joyful experiences. I am absolutely thrilled about this week’s standout release: “Je Ne Sais Quoi,” the debut track from London’s very own self-proclaimed “Pop Girlie Boy,” Stan Pratt. Now, I can already hear the questions: Doesn’t Kylie have a track with the same name? Is this a reimagining? The answer is a resounding no. Kylie recorded “Je ne sais pas pourquoi” for her iconic 1988 debut album “Kylie,” but these two tracks couldn’t be more different in sound and style. Kylie embodies that classic disco and dance-pop flair we all love, while Stan Pratt is here to push boundaries with his bold, maximalist pop infused with an alternative edge.

Interestingly, I see a parallel between Stan and the current alt-pop sensation Chloe Qisha, who holds a degree in psychology. Stan brings a unique twist of his own, boasting a degree in neuroscience. (Surprised? I certainly was!). This combination of academic prowess and musical talent is sure to create something truly unique.

Describing the debut offering “Je Ne Sais Quoi,” the song is playful and upbeat albeit notably brimming with a vibrant, cool and thought-provoking narrative, teeming with tongue-in-cheek lyricism.

“I wrote it about a certain category of male narcissist, and at the start of the song, I allude to the way he’s been shaped by his upbringing.” Though the track’s protagonist was “treasured like an angel from the skies”, he’s now “dancing with the devil just to bring you down a level” – in other words, precisely the kind of bad boy who’s tough to resist,” Stan explains.

Stan’s deep love for 80s synth-pop infuses his music with a nostalgic yet fresh vibe that truly resonates with me. While I’m not aware of him covering any of Kylie’s tracks. I can confidently say that his rendition of Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy” is a must-listen (check it out here). It’s a brilliant interpretation that showcases his unique style!

When exploring new music and emerging artists, I always trust my instincts. In this case, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement about Stan Pratt. I genuinely believe I’m in for the long haul with his sound. If you’re a fan of Charli XCX, MARINA, Alfie Templeman, or Conan Gray, then I have no doubt you’ll find yourself equally captivated by Stan Pratt.

Merely noticing this girlie collaboration on paper was enough to have me salivating for the “ATTENTION!” release day. After the summer of Kylie followed by the summer of Charli XCX, the successor the summer of Kesha is now undoubtedly in full swing. I’ll admit to not being fully switched on into Kesha mode until the recent arrival of “Boy Crazy“. And while it took me a little longer than most to jump back on the Kesha train, she had me at the mention of boys and certainly has me gripped even tighter, bringing on her upcoming “TiTS OUT” tour openers Slayyyter and Rose Gray. I mean, it’s just such a cool idea but also embodies the essence of love and connection Kesha is striving for in the new music and tour in equal measure.

It’s clear that the July 4th (Independence Day) release of the album – “.(PERIOD)” is not just a celebration; it’s a strategic move by Kesha to grab the spotlight with her “ATTENTION!” initiative. Equally exciting is the introduction of SMASH, a groundbreaking community platform designed for creators to connect, collaborate, and hire one another on their own terms. This innovative platform was co-founded by CEO Kesha Sebert, CTO Alan Cannistraro, and COO Lagan Sebert, showcasing a dynamic new era for creativity and collaboration.

Do I have your attention?, the track begins as Kesha roles out a list of evocative clickbait-style statements. Similarly followed by Slayyyter and Rose Gray each taking over a verse delivered in an introductory manner.

It does seem a bit odd that the collaboration isn’t listed on the “.(PERIOD)” album track list, but let’s not forget there’s always a chance for a deluxe edition! We can absolutely count on these artists to light up the stage during the tour with an unforgettable performance of this hit! Plus, it’s exciting to see Slayyyter and Rose Gray following in Tom Aspaul‘s footsteps as he recently opened for Kesha’s UK shows. Each of them is making waves as independent artists and gaining well-deserved recognition!

Babymorocco is an emerging artist I spotlighted on the blog last year after being captivated by the London-based electronic artist/producer’s bodacious and ear-popping debut EP, “The Sound.” However, that EP was just the appetizer for the feast of electronic and wordplay mastery that is to follow. In recent months, he has been building momentum for the release of his debut album. This body of work, “Amour,” marks a new era in Rocco’s beat-making, where EDM influences gain prominence and his wordy rapping style firmly places him in the club scene. His crazy, glitchy-strewn beats and fast-paced vocals perfectly capture his hedonistic party-boy persona.

The arrival of singles “Crazy Cheap“, “Really Hot,” “Babestation” and “Bikinies and Trackies,” further demonstrate his somewhat provocative, experimental explorations in the EDM genre. Moreover, Rocco adheres to a concept in his “Amour” album.

Of his debut album, the innovative electronic-pop artist says: “’Amour’ is a fast-paced, 16-track journey into living and becoming Babymorocco. It’s a story of transformation as I leave London and reunite in Paris with Jean Paul; the love of my life and a part of myself that I had lost. This course proves the adage: you can take the party boy out of London, but you can’t take the London out of the party boy.”

The latest focus single “Body Organic Disco Electronic” is the song that stood out best to me thus far. Notably, because of the throbbing bassline, and techno ambience, the track sees Babymorocco immersed in a club environment. His focus is upon the punchy beats and hyper club sounds of the music. The song is simply about connecting with the music and dancing to the irresistible, ear-popping rhythm.

It’s easy to draw comparisons between Babymorocco and Charli XCX, given their shared ability to push pop music boundaries. However, while Charli XCX is known for her catchy hooks and innovative beats. Moreover, Babymorocco takes his production skills to an entirely new level, blending genres and experimenting with sound in ways that captivate the listener. At the same time, he radiates his own unique identity, ensuring that his artistry is not just a reflection of influences but a fresh and original expression of his creativity.

I’m thrilled to introduce Scottish producer-singer-songwriter Possibly Jamie, whose music is a perfect fit for electronic pop enthusiasts. With a DIY pop aesthetic and a journey that began with his track “this body” released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Possibly Jamie has been honing his craft in remarkable ways. Upon delving deeper reveals that he is an artist who breathes life into truly captivating eclectic electronic pop.
