Georgia‘s recent decision to wipe her Instagram grid undoubtedly heightened my anticipation for new music from the talented multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Coupled with her intriguing teaser clips featuring Olly Alexander, it’s clear she’s brewing something exciting in the studio. While a quieter phase after the release of her “Euphoric” album in 2023 was expected. The electrifying response at her headline gig at Colour Factory in London similarly proves that her fans are ravenous for more. Therefore, some two years on, feels like a pivotal moment to unleash a wave of fresh, dynamic music that her audience craves!

It would be downright surprising for Georgia to start a new chapter without delivering an irresistible bop. Namely since this a hallmark of her artistry as a dynamic multi-talented creator. With her latest release, “Wanna Play,” she not only meets but surpasses these high expectations. This electrifying track bursts with infectious melodies and sharp, engaging lyrics. Undeniably the soundscape firmly captures the attention of both her devoted fanbase and critics eager to celebrate her evolution.

Talking about the track, Georgia says: I wrote this song at a complete crossroads in my life, which is why I stuck with the 160bpm! It’s a fast tempo punk-electro song, inspired by early Knife songs & 80’s Depeche Mode bass-lines. It’s a bit of fun really, I wanted to explore my love for synths again!”

It is no coincidence that “Wanna Play,” Georgia’s latest single, is strategically placed during the vibrant festival season. (Notably a time when music enthusiasts flock to outdoor events and artists actively showcase their talents). Traditionally, this period sees Georgia fully immersed in her own performances across major music festivals,. Where she moreover, captivates audiences with her dynamic energy and unique sound.

However, this year marks a change. A statement from Georgia confirms she is hosting an intimate live event at London’s AnotherLand on the 25th of July. This exclusive gathering will feature her performing a brand-new live set. Additionally, attendees can look forward to a lineup of talented guest DJs who will complement the evening with their own distinct mixes. Namely culminating in an unforgettable night, offering a unique opportunity for fans to experience Georgia’s artistry up close in a more personal setting.

2024 has been an extraordinary year for the Pet Shop Boys, as Neil and Chris proudly celebrated the launch of their fifteenth studio album, “Nonetheless.” This remarkable milestone was commemorated with a series of exceptional events. Namely, including an exclusive performance run at the prestigious Royal Opera House and a captivating album playback evening. They also hosted an engaging conversation event in Manchester and thrilled fans with the airing of their insightful “Then and Now” documentary on BBC One. Furthermore, two special cinema screenings of their spectacular “Dreamworld” Greatest Hits Live tour, filmed in Copenhagen, added to the excitement. All of this, coupled with their dynamic live performances, showcases the undeniable impact of their artistry this year.

Get ready for the highly anticipated release of the “Nonetheless Expanded Edition” from Pet Shop Boys, arriving on 22nd November! In the lead-up to this exciting event, they’ve revealed some enticing bonus material that fans won’t want to miss. On 15th November, you can get your hands on a CD featuring a Double A-side single with a fresh edit of “New London Boy” paired with the classic “All the Young Dudes,” written by the legendary David Bowie. Plus, there will be a remix single to elevate your listening experience! (available digitally now).

The album version and new radio edit of “New London Boy” offer an impressive sonic experience, imbued with a weightless musicality that draws listeners in. The evocative atmosphere beautifully complements the reflective narrative, which narrates Neil Tennant’s early days in London. However, I want to shine a light on a remix within this latest PSB collection. The Boy Harsher Remix of “New London Boy” swept me away with its unique electro, dark wave interpretation by the Georgia-raised dark-pop duo. This refreshing take not only captures a nostalgic retro essence. The interpretation also seamlessly aligns with the early 80s sound that defined the vibrant landscape Neil encountered upon his arrival in London in 1981.

While the duo has already celebrated a remarkable lineup of events, their celebration isn’t over yet! Don’t miss the chance to catch Pet Shop Boys at the MTV EMAS in Manchester on 10th November. The show airs live on Channel 5, 10pm in the UK. It’s sure to be an unforgettable experience!

In the last few years, we have learned that Kim Petras outrageousness knows no abounds. And that she’s come a long way since breaking out with bubblegum pop cute bops such as the 2018 release, “Heart To Break.” A transformation noted by Kim’s debut “Slut Pop” EP that arrived in the wake of the track “Coconuts,” release. And simultaneously marking a pivotal transition for the trans, pop provocateur. Clearly still revelling in the positive reaction her debut collection of sex-positive tracks received from her fans. Kim backs up the release with a raunchy follow-up, “Slut Pop Miami,” in way of a Valentine’s treat to her fans.

The run time of this 12-track EP is a mere twenty-three minutes long. Therefore when doing the maths, each of the new risqué offerings presents themselves much in the form of teasers that link to create a mixtape in the guise of an EP of the raunchiest order. Kim never once claimed “Slut Pop” as her own erotica. Nevertheless, in this second sexy instalment, there are no limitations to her brazenness.

Knowing that the content is NSFW, the best way to listen to any “Slut Pop” release, “Slut Pop Miami” included, is with an open mind and with earphones clamped on. But in all seriousness, the lyrics, which I cannot repeat in this blog due to their extremely explicit nature, are proper gay gold. (See, you wouldn’t find me typing the phrase “Whale Cock.” However, oops, I just did! as just expressing my fun side y’all.)

Attempting to retain some level of decorum when in the throes of blogging “Slut Pop Miami“… here’s a share of the less vulgar but fully electrified pop of the “Slut Pop Reprise.”

"Too Much Too Little" is the dance pop track Georgia debuted at her shows last year, that her fans urged her to release.

On this blog last year, I discussed the “Euphoric” album by Georgia, at length. Owing to her distinctive sound as she transitioned from a producer-based directive to that of a left-field pop artist. Georgia continued to push the boundaries of electronic music. While embracing a pop aesthetic, she made sure to keep the stylings of a dance element embedded in her tracks, which sets her apart from her contemporaries.

Also in 2023, Georgia once again proved herself a festival favourite. She solidified her performance status with a successful tour in promotion of “Euphoric“. Incidently, I was lucky enough to catch one of her live shows at the Colour Factory in London, and it was absolutely amazing! During her set, she even shared a new song and hinted that she would release it soon. I’ve been eagerly waiting for it ever since. And now, the wait is finally over – “Too Much Too Little” is out now, and it’s already making waves after premiering as Hottest Record, on BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

Listen on Apple Music

I saw Georgia on the night she wrapped up her UK dates. And I vividly remember the response the crowd at the Colour Factory, London gave “Too Much Too Little.” The reaction to this dance-pop offering, in essence, was as raucous as any feedback we gave when she played any of her well-loved hits, or recent track releases equally. Yet, I’m glad that her audiences proved good test groups. Also since the tour ended, Georgia, worked hard to come up with a final edit that she is proud to share.

In the song’s powerful and thought-provoking lyrics, It’s clear that Georgia has an important message to share. Moreover, her reflections on the impact of mass consumption on the modern world are deeply relevant and important for us to consider. The combination of her poignant lyrics and the energetic piano and drum accompaniment create a truly impactful and memorable song. Yet, overall, this song is a great example of how music can be used to spark meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most.

Feeling blue or overwhelmed? I have just the prescription for you: a Georgia gig. These shows are a surefire way to boost your mood with their powerful mix of happiness, connection, and love. Trust me, after attending one, you’ll leave feeling refreshed and uplifted. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience this incredible remedy for yourself.

In her live dates, coming up… Georgia joins Kim Petras on the UK and European legs of her “Feed The Beast” tour. Commencing 13th February – Details HERE

Additionally, Georgia will also perform at this year’s Mighty Hoopla Festival.

Listen to “A Very Bad Fun Idea” by Years & Years https://eqmusicblog.com/listen-to-a-very-bad-fun-idea-by-years-years/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 09:55:06 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=35703 In a dance pop style only Years & Years creates. Georgia produced track "A Very Bad Fun Idea" is lifted from upcoming film "Bonus Track"...

In the past week, social media was abuzz with rumours, tipping that Years & Years would represent the UK at Eurovision 2024 and/or serve as the opening act for the upcoming Girls Aloud Arena Tour. Olly Alexander neither confirmed nor dispelled these claims. He shoved out a new single release instead.

Due to the ongoing tour for 2022 album “Night Call” and multiple festival appearances this summer, Years & Years did not release any new solo material this year. Or so we thought. In a surprise move last Friday, the project released “A Very Bad Fun Idea,” a track previously hinted at and written by Olly for the Josh O’Connor/Mike Gilbert Sky Original film “Bonus Track.”

Although not officially confirmed. It is likely the LGBTQ rom-com which premiered at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival, will launch soon. The recent release of the soundtrack music “A Very Bad Fun Idea” is an undoubted sign that the release date is approaching.

It’s true, the Olly Alexander helmed project has established a signature sound that we all recognize and love, and “A Very Bad Fun Idea” is no exception to that dance-pop style. However, what caught my attention about this track is that it is produced by Georgia Barnes. (The talented producer and performer behind albums “Seeking Thrills” and “Euphoric.”) Albeit, it’s not the first time they’ve worked together. Olly guests on the latest remix version of the Georgia track “It’s Euphoric.”

Listen on Apple Music

On “A Very Bad Fun Idea” Olly said…

“This song is about the extreme emotion we feel at a pivotal moment in our lives and the lengths we go to for the people we love. I made the demo at home and I’m very excited you’ll be able to hear that version when you watch the movie (next year!) I’m also very excited to share this version of the song produced with my angel sister bff Georgia.”

Furthermore, I understand. The release timing of “A Very Bad Fun Idea” was strategic, taking advantage of the December winding-up process. The song stands out among other chart-bound mainstream dance-pop releases of the week. It would shoot into the top 20 at any other time of the year. Yet December is a difficult month to compete in, with the usual Christmas classics like Wham!, Pogues ft Kirsty McColl, Mariah Carey, and Michael Buble taking up their annual chart residence.

Only liberal streaming will save this from becoming snowed under by grannies’ festive favourites!

Listen to “Romeo” by Georgia Lines https://eqmusicblog.com/listen-to-romeo-by-georgia-lines/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 09:41:04 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=35595 Without sacrificing her dreamy vocals, Georgia Lines goes all out for pop in "Romeo" while showing she capably handles a colossal pop hit.

The post Listen to “Romeo” by Georgia Lines appeared first on EQ Music Blog.

So many artists released Christmas tracks on the last New Music Friday. Noticeably, there are quite a few out to wade through already! Interestingly, however, New Zealand pop artist Georgia Lines doesn’t seem as focused on the festive season just now. Seemingly because, instead of closing out her current pop era with the release of her latest single, “Romeo.” Before launching her debut album, Georgia is going all out for pop with “Romeo.” This latest single sees her departing from her usual R&B-sprinkled pop sound and embracing a fresh blast of 80s-inspired synths.

Back home Georgia has made waves in the music industry since named as the AMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2022. Her EP “HUMAN” reached the top of the Official Top 20 NZ Album chart. While her lead single “Faith” held the top spot on the NZ Airplay Radioscope chart for four weeks in a row.

Georgia’s talent as a singer-songwriter is definitely no secret. “Romeo” is a clear example of her versatility in a new light. It’s the first time she has released such a massive anthem, yet her beloved, dreamy vocals demonstrate her ability to handle the demands of a huge pop hit.

Listen on Apple Music

Unquestionably, she is a remarkable music artist. Yet, there is a specific reason why I want to bring attention to Georgia on the blog today. While the addition of synths certainly contributed to making her song, noteworthy enough for coverage on EQ Music Blog, that was not the primary reason. I was actually drawn to Georgia for something else entirely.

Aside from her success as a singer-songwriter, Georgia also hosts a well-received music web series called INTROS. In this series, she introduces her new favourite female and non-binary artists in a relaxed sit-down conversation. Each episode of INTROS revolves around the artist’s selected song, with Georgia delving into the story behind it and the process of writing, before providing viewers with a live performance. It’s a great platform for promoting up-and-coming artists and celebrating diversity in music.

When music artists lift up other music artists, what’s not to love about that, especially when so many amazing artists are unheard by so many. Super idea!

The post Stream It! “This Beat Is Poptronik” – Fall 2023 appeared first on EQ Music Blog.

]]>

Hey there! Since the last “This Beat is Poptronik” playlist update in June, a lot has happened in the music world.

The summer months have been abuzz with album releases from some of the biggest names in the industry. It’s been a period of incredible experiences where I have relished getting stuck in, championing and supporting the latest album releases from Troye Sivan, Georgia, Kylie Minogue, OMD, Moyka, Kim Petras and Romy. As we head into Fall 2023, as your EQ hosts, Raj and I, are excited to present a new and exciting playlist for all your cosy days at home and away. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, expect to hear some of the best pop, electronic and indie tracks released in Q2. Are you ready? Let’s unpack, “This Beat Is Poptronik – Fall 2023“…

This Beat Is Poptronik” – Fall 2023 features…

In July, Troye Sivan returned with a dance track, “Rush.” The first single from his third album, “Something To Give Each Other.” This Latin-influenced track was supported with a steamily choreographed video that we have on replay in our heads whenever we listen to “Rush.” In our opinion, this is more than a good enough reason to peg it at the top of the playlist.

We didn’t see this one coming from The Killers, “Your Side of Town.” Since, listening to the track, I couldn’t help but notice the similarities to the music styles of Pet Shop Boys (musically) and New Order (melody/top-line). This epic, impactful track will surely pique the interest of 80s music fans especially.

For the 35th anniversary. The Cash Cash remix of “Tell It To My Heart” has the iconic dance hit up to date. The fact that Taylor Dayne rerecorded the vocal on this new 2023 version just adds to its appeal. Her powerhouse voice still sounds as amazing as ever.

Speaking of comebacks, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, (OMD) really played a blinder on the new album “Bauhaus Staircase“. A massive win for electronic music this year, bulldozing in at #2 in the Official album charts. So many rich pickings from this release, but feel “Veruschka,” is particularly spellbinding. Highly cinematic and fans of The Sound Of Arrows, in particular, are sure to love it.

Besides the above. Embedded in “This Beat Is Poptronik” – Fall 2023 playlist there’s more gems not to be missed from… Sia, Bananarama, Harry Styles, Lauv, Bright Light Bright Light, Zee Machine and Georgia.

Some emerging artists for your radar…

I have waxed lyrical on EQ Music Blog about Nic Billington for years. His music style is electronic with a dark pop aesthetic. There is no doubt whatever Nic puts out is consummate, slick, and stylish. The latest release, a reimagining of Billy Idol‘s track “White Wedding” is super hot in more ways than one. (Ahem… I will say no more than check out the must-see video)

I have lost count of how many times Bentley Robles has featured on the blog this year. With confidence, I can say the “Ugly Crier” EP is a testament to Bentley’s growth as an artist. His takeover of the pop scene is seen through a magic music formula of electro-pop and confessional lyrics.

Chappell Roan – “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl“. I do feel that countries outside the USA, including the UK, still have some catching up to do when it comes to recognizing the talent of this young artist. She is a tenacious pop spirit with exuberance in abundance. Stay tuned… I think Chappell has got what it takes to be the next big pop star.

Quirky pop star! Babymorocco is here to slay with doses of groovealicious electro-pop, thumpa thumpa basslines and pure unadulterated donk. The track “Everyone” is taken from the debut EP “The Sound.” This makes for a groovalicious experience, comprised of hyper-pop beats reminiscent of the music by Calvin Harris and Basshunter from the 2000s. It’s rare to come across music like this in 2023, but this EP resoundingly delivers.

Check out Khazali for easy-listening pop songs with a touch of synths, catchy melodies and lyrics worth listening to. Tracks “Did It For Love” and “Magic” are a perfect blend of soulful funky groove and heated-up aesthetic.

Stay ready for another thrilling update to this playlist as the year comes to a close! We can’t wait to share more of our music taste with you, including more of the latest, “This Beat Is Poptronik” news. So make sure to stay tuned for an updated playlist that will undoubtedly get you moving and grooving!

EMERGING ARTIST: Kiimi https://eqmusicblog.com/emerging-artist-kiimi/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 10:12:41 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=35165 Discover Kimmi - The EDM scene is extremely exciting right now, with artists like Kiimi, Georgia, Romy, and Charlotte Plank to look out for.

The post EMERGING ARTIST: Kiimi appeared first on EQ Music Blog.

]]>

Recently, I’ve noticed that I haven’t been writing enough about up-and-coming production acts in the music industry. So, I’ve made it my mission to start paying more attention to emerging talents in this genre. One artist who has caught my eye is Kiimi, a London-based producer and DJ who has been making waves lately.

Kiimi has already performed at some of the biggest music festivals this summer, including Glastonbury, Standon Calling, Lost Village, and Creamfields. It’s clear that Kimberley Emma Reader, the mastermind behind Kiimi, has a unique and progressive style of electronic dance music that’s quickly gaining popularity. I was especially impressed when I heard they recently opened up with a set at Radio 1’s dance weekend in Ibiza. And I find it particularly exciting watching talented artists rise through the ranks.

I am really digging the current track, “Serotonin“. Although not their typical style since their voice is featured quite prominently. Usually, they let their production work take the lead and use vocals more as a background/harmonising element. But this time, Kiimi mixed things up and I feel it’s a move that is really paying off. Moreover making “Serotonin” one of their most buzzed-about releases to date.

Listen on Apple Music

“I think this is the most exposed my vocals have been on one of my tracks,” Kiimi comments, “so it feels pretty vulnerable and raw, but I guess that’s exactly, the point I was trying to get across,” they further add.

Therefore, writing this piece became an especially pivotal project for Kiimi at a time when they were experiencing an extremely tough breakup. Heartbreak is something that everyone goes through at some point. Yet, the experience is not an easy thing to deal with. However, specifically the song “Serotonin” in this instance, became Kiimi’s way of finding their voice again and reclaiming their sense of self. This cathartic episode helped them move forward and start to heal.

Kiimi, along with Georgia, Romy, and Charlotte Plank are some of the most exciting artists in the EDM scene right now. They infuse their music with so much heartfelt conviction, pushing the boundaries of modern production and creating something truly unique. It’s incredibly inspiring to see artists like this redefine what’s possible in music.

Grab your tickets HERE for Kiimi’s debut live show at The Social, on Wednesday, November 1st.

I hope that between summer vacations, days out or just enjoying the summer sun. EQ music blog readers will have caught up on some of the recent Georgia posts covered on the blog.

Also, I am hopeful that maybe lots of you have been enjoying Georgia’s latest album, “Euphoric“? If you haven’t yet, I urge you to grab a listen as soon as you can. It’s seriously packed with electro-dance-pop goodness. Even though she released “It’s Euphoric,” “Give It Up For Love,” and “All Night” as singles. There are still so many tracks left that have the potential to be focus singles. Her first post-album release, “Some Things You’ll Never Know,” is out now. Although, I trust it will not be the final promotional track she shares before the UK and Europe tour gets underway in November and December. (Dates & ticket information HERE).

Listen on Apple Music

Georgia and her collaborator and producer Rostam have created a captivating album with “Euphoric.” In fact, one of the standout tracks, which is “Some Things You’ll Never Know,” combines piano house and trance. Thus creating a late-night vibe perfectly befitting for a pre-night out banger. This song’s energy makes it a great candidate for a music video. Georgia has done just that with a vibrant visual clip directed by K Lamb of MrMr Films. Therefore, choosing a fun and relatable concept that perfectly complements the song’s infectious groove was paramount. While searching for love, in the clip, Georgia embarks on a speed-dating adventure with her supportive girl pals by her side.

Elaborating on the song concept Georgia says: “Sometimes there’s beauty in what’s left unsaid, and that we can’t control the future – this song relishes that. I want people to dance in the face of life’s uncertainties.”

I absolutely loved and will continue listening to Georgia’s, “Euphoric” album. She achieved her goal of establishing herself as a unique left-field pop artist. Two tracks that stood out to me were “Give It Up For Love” and “Some Things You’ll Never Know.” These songs genuinely highlighted her talent and helped to establish her new sound.

In the dynamic world of EDM, Tensteps stands out as an artist who skillfully blends genres and influences to create a distinctive sonic identity. With his upcoming album on the horizon, Tensteps invites us to explore the roots of his unique sound and style by delving into the diverse range of musical influences that have contributed to his artistic evolution.

From Trance to Pop-Punk and beyond, join us as we dive into the inspirations that have shaped Tensteps’ musical landscape.

Hi Tensteps! How are you today?
Doing well, thanks!

To start, throughout your career, what artists or producers have had the most profound influence on your style and sound?
That’s a really tough question to answer because I’m influenced by so many things. Gareth Emery’s Drive-era stuff definitely had a big influence on how I approach melody in Dance music. “U” is still probably one of my favorite songs to this day, and when I first started the Tensteps project one of my biggest goals was to sign something to Garuda, haha. You can hear that melodic influence clearly in something like my song “Ecstasy”. Andrew Rayel’s album “Moments” was also a huge one for me, I’ve listened to some of those songs probably 50-100 times, especially songs like “Forgiven” and “Home” which are so focused on the really catchy vocals. Illenium’s been a massive influence for me as well. The way he creates emotion in his songs is just unmatched. Those are just a couple that come to mind but there’s tons.

Can you share a specific moment or song that you heard early in your musical journey that made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in Electronic Dance music?
I used sing for a Metal band, and we played the Bamboozle festival the same day that Skrillex headlined. I’d heard about him but never really listened to him, so I went to check out his set and was blown away. I was like “How is this possible? How did he make all these crazy, Transformers-fucking sounds?” So, I started going on YouTube and learning to make Dubstep and that was the start of me really learning to produce Electronic music.

Your music often blends elements from various genres. Could you pinpoint a few non-Electronic artists or genres that have played a role in shaping your unique sound?
I grew up on a lot of Pop Punk and post-Hardcore. You hear these influences mostly in my songwriting these days, rather than my production (though there is definitely some of that in the production on my upcoming album). A Day To Remember was my favorite band for a big chunk of my teenage and early 20s years, and I picked up a lot of my songwriting style from Jeremy McKinnon. Mayday Parade was a big thing for me too, they helped me develop my skills of putting emotion into songwriting. I also love Country music, and there’s definitely a Country-lean in some of my lyrics and vocal melodies. That comes from some of the first Country artists I got into, people like Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Well-written Country music is so good at being relatable to so many people, it’s an excellent genre to study if you want to learn how to pull people into your songs and make them feel like it was written specifically for them.

Are there any albums or tracks from other genres outside of EDM that you frequently turn to for inspiration?
So many! “Homesick” from A Day To Remember is still one of my favorite albums of all time. When I was making the Rock-influenced track on my album, a track called “Spark”, I was listening to a lot of Motionless In White, I was working on that track right around the time their album “Scoring The End Of The World” came out. That’s just two of them, but there’s so many I couldn’t possibly think of them all.

As your music evolves, do you find yourself drawn more to your earlier influences or do you actively seek out new sounds to incorporate into your productions?
I’m always looking for new sounds. Since finishing the album, I’ve been experimenting with ideas that would fall into genres like Big Room Techno, Hardstyle, Eurodance, Future House, Melodic Bass, there’s tons of stuff that I’ve been playing with. Some of it might get released one day, some might not, but my upcoming album is a sort of closing of Volume 1 of the Tensteps story, and it’s been a lot of fun experimenting with what Volume 2 is going to sound like.

Collaborations can be a creative venue to explore and can influence and inspire. Is there an artist you’ve worked with recently who brought a different perspective that pushed your creative boundaries?
There are precious few collaborations with other producers on my album, most tracks are just me and a singer. But there’s one in particular called “Save My Soul” that I did with my good friend DRKMODE. He’s an absolutely nasty Bass music producer and I was determined to get him on this album one way or another, haha. I had this idea for a Melodic Bass track and I just couldn’t get it where it needed to be, and luckily, he loved it and was down to take it the rest of the way and show me some things along the way
that I’ll absolutely be applying to future records.

Many artists have a “guilty pleasure” genre or artist that they secretly enjoy. Is there a guilty pleasure in music that you find particularly appealing?
I’ve recently discovered drill/UK rap. My wife can’t stand it and makes fun of it every time I put it on in the car, but there’s something about it that’s really unique and interesting from a rhythm perspective. Plus, lyrically it’s a huge departure from American Hip Hop since these rappers are using slang and phrases that we don’t use here in the States. So, it’s just really interesting being exposed to something so different from the Hip Hop we hear constantly in nightclubs and on the radio here in the US.

When it comes to your live performances, do you ever draw inspiration from experiences outside of music, such as films, art, or literature?
I really like epic presentations in all forms, whether music or art or movies, and that definitely translates to my live sets. I want my intros to feel super powerful, as if you were watching the climax of a crazy action movie. I use every ounce of energy I have when I’m performing, being as crowd interactive as possible, making sure to be part of the experience, not just the one pressing play on the music. I see a lot of artists who’s stage presence is really underwhelming, and that’s one of the things that I think holds
people back. People need to feel connected to you not just through the music but with their eyes too. They can see when you’re enjoying it as much as they are, and when you’re not, and they want to be on the same level as you so if your level isn’t high, theirs won’t be either.

Musical evolution is often a journey. Are there any genres or styles you haven’t explored yet but are curious to incorporate into your music in the future?
Honestly, all the ones I mentioned before that I’ve been experimenting with since finishing up the album. None of them have really made it into my music that’s been released so far, so I’m really just dipping my toes into them now and starting to pick up production techniques in those genres, and finding how to connect my signature elements to them. I have a really dope track that’s kind of big roomy that’s almost done and has been getting played out as an ID, and the crowd reaction to that has been insane from what I’ve seen. I’m also just finishing up a more Future House-style track this weekend that I’m pretty excited about. So, we’ll see what the future brings!
