Joining the recent releases of “Boy Crazy” and “ATTENTION!“, Kesha drops off “The One.” celebrating the imminent arrival of her hugely anticipated new album, “. (PERIOD)”, arrives at last on Independence Day, Friday, July 4.  With “The One.” she reclaims her pop power in anthemic and Charli XCX style. We might say Kesha certainly paid attention to the pop girlies and has similarly slotted right in and is once again mothering with the best of them. MARINA, Charli XCX, Kylie, Chappell Roan et al.

“Finally, found the love. I am the one” she proudly sings defiantly.

Listen to “ATTENTION!” by Kesha, Slayyyter, Rose Gray https://eqmusicblog.com/listen-to-attention-by-kesha-slayyyter-rose-gray/ Mon, 23 Jun 2025 09:50:44 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=39020 "ATTENTION!" is it even a question?... The collaboration from Kesha, Slayyyter and Rose Gray, is a total mood for getting the summer dance party season started...

Merely noticing this girlie collaboration on paper was enough to have me salivating for the “ATTENTION!” release day. After the summer of Kylie followed by the summer of Charli XCX, the successor the summer of Kesha is now undoubtedly in full swing. I’ll admit to not being fully switched on into Kesha mode until the recent arrival of “Boy Crazy“. And while it took me a little longer than most to jump back on the Kesha train, she had me at the mention of boys and certainly has me gripped even tighter, bringing on her upcoming “TiTS OUT” tour openers Slayyyter and Rose Gray. I mean, it’s just such a cool idea but also embodies the essence of love and connection Kesha is striving for in the new music and tour in equal measure.

It’s clear that the July 4th (Independence Day) release of the album – “.(PERIOD)” is not just a celebration; it’s a strategic move by Kesha to grab the spotlight with her “ATTENTION!” initiative. Equally exciting is the introduction of SMASH, a groundbreaking community platform designed for creators to connect, collaborate, and hire one another on their own terms. This innovative platform was co-founded by CEO Kesha Sebert, CTO Alan Cannistraro, and COO Lagan Sebert, showcasing a dynamic new era for creativity and collaboration.

Do I have your attention?, the track begins as Kesha roles out a list of evocative clickbait-style statements. Similarly followed by Slayyyter and Rose Gray each taking over a verse delivered in an introductory manner.

“Can I have your attention? Yeah maybe I should mention, I’m in love with my reflection.”

“Tits out riding with the windows down. They’re playin me on the radio right now. My name coming outta all y’all’s mouths. Is it even a question? Do I have your attention?”

It does seem a bit odd that the collaboration isn’t listed on the “.(PERIOD)” album track list, but let’s not forget there’s always a chance for a deluxe edition! We can absolutely count on these artists to light up the stage during the tour with an unforgettable performance of this hit! Plus, it’s exciting to see Slayyyter and Rose Gray following in Tom Aspaul‘s footsteps as he recently opened for Kesha’s UK shows. Each of them is making waves as independent artists and gaining well-deserved recognition!

Listen to “Out of Time” by Slayyyter https://eqmusicblog.com/listen-to-out-of-time-by-slayyyter/ Fri, 16 Jun 2023 09:35:52 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=34646 Slayyyter proves her versatility like never before with "Out of Time." The catchy song makes her a promising new artist that we can't ignore.

I have to admit, it wasn’t until the most recent album, “Troubled Paradise,” that I really started paying attention to wannabe pop star Slayyyter. After trying to make it in the pop scene for a few years, Slayyyter’s debut album in 2021 showed a more subdued side to her DIY pop sound. Where she toned down the bravado and switched up the synth-pop style. I was pleasantly surprised by the results of this evolution. However, she recently linked up with Tove Lo in the support slot of the Swedish pop sensation’s North American leg of the Dirt Femme tour. This aroused my suspicions that we might be hearing more from Slayyyter soon.

Honestly, I was not expecting what Slayyyter just released. “Out of Time” is unquestionably her most pop-oriented track so far, and it’s amazing. It has that 80s/90s vibe that reminds me a lot of Kim Petras, and I just found out that they have the same producer, Vaughn Oliver. No wonder the similarities are there! Oliver has also worked on some of Kim’s iconic hits like “Malibu,” “Sweet Spot,” and “Personal Hell.”

About “Out of Time,” Slayyyter says… “it was inspired a lot by my own anxieties and insecurities about being a smaller artist in the music industry. This song is a slick 80s rebirth for me about anyone who has ever wanted to be famous.”

Having seen the official visualiser for Slayyyter’s new song. The clip gives a glimpse into what we can expect from this era of her music. There’s a strong theme of Hollywood luxury, celebrity obsessions, dreams and delusions, femme fatales, and vanity. These themes remind me somewhat of Allie X‘s “Super Sunset“. Although, the music on the leading focus single, “Out of Time,” seems to be more in keeping with the style of Kim Petras and Miley Cyrus.

The song “Out of Time” by Slayyyter has super impressed me. This track showcases her musical prowess like never before, and I can’t help but hope that she continues down this path. The combination of indie, synth-pop and 80s is truly, alluring. If she keeps this vibe going, I can see myself becoming a huge fan of Slayyyter in the coming months…

Watch “Clouds” by Slayyyter https://eqmusicblog.com/watch-clouds-by-slayyyter/ Mon, 01 Mar 2021 09:04:44 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=29792 Dreamy disco vibes. Slayyyter serves pop on her own terms. "Clouds" comes in as her most sparkly, pop-sensible effort yet.

Pop provocateur Slayyyter is gearing up for the June 11th release of, debut album “Troubled Paradise.” I covered the electrifying electro-pop title track on the blog in January. I have done a full-180 on the uncompromising pop sensation as I wasn’t a huge fan of her earlier work. The new stuff, however, is quite a different matter. “Clouds” is released in follow-up to the single “Troubled Paradise.” And is where the singer is serving dreamy disco vibes. She has really pared back for the nicopop produced track, where she appears almost angelic.

But hold up, we know better because this is Slayyyter and we know provocative and alluring is the brand which has stood her in good steed. Except for “Clouds” where she teases more of her vulnerable side. “Some days I feel good then I really wanna disappear. I always got clouds over me.” She sings, brightly. Shaking off a little bravado. Are we really nearer to what lies at the heart of the album? Clearly, she wants us to understand life isn’t always filled with cotton cloud dreams and candy sweetness. Yet, doesn’t wish to go deeper than to just scratch the surface at present on the song.

Listen on Apple Music

The only thing which is predictable about this track is the music video. The Munachi Osegbu directed clip captures the singer resting on a carpet of pillow white clouds with her waist-length flowing hair in the breeze. When in reality the images she has been feeding us have been masking a lot of the real Slayyyter. We have seen her as a disruptive force. She is ready to let us know her sweet little girl dreams haven’t quite turned out the way she imagined. One minute she throws us back to the Dorothy, like (Wizard of Oz) imagery. The next she’s seated on a table surrounded by tempting sugary treats or then sitting on the lap of a big teddy bear. Coupled with the dark lyrical undertones, it feels like the singer is letting old demons out of the cupboard for good. The process may have been cathartic but the new pop style from her is sounding so good.

Watch “Roses R Red” by CRAY https://eqmusicblog.com/watch-roses-r-red-by-cray/ Fri, 19 Feb 2021 09:25:53 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=29697 EMERGING POP: CRAY is ready to take the world by storm. "Roses R Red" - a sure-fire leap into pop in a similar lane to Kim Petras / Slayyyter

The post Watch “Roses R Red” by CRAY appeared first on EQ Music Blog.

It wasn’t enough to be a singer-songwriter, LA-based multi-talent CRAY wants it all. She started out as an online-videogame streamer, evolved into a DJ/Producer and subsequently turned her attention to singing and songwriting as well. She’s been busy perfecting her art since 2015 and has a thirst for continually reinventing her sound. It is the anti-valentines track “Roses R Red” which lands CRAY (Cheney Ray) on my radar because there is no way I could not consider CRAY striking or eyecatching. Quite honestly, her emo look makes her stand out and she didn’t look as though she would throw me a mushy love-ballad or an Adele sized heartbreak pop belter. My interest in CRAY immediately grew.

The track has CRAY experimenting with a more lighthearted sound to her more usual soulful, electronic dance-pop creations. Her latest is definitely a sure-fire leap into pop and in a similar lane to Kim Petras or Slayyyter. Her look is kinda like Kerli met with Grimes. Although I don’t think either artist would be quite so dark as to hand-paint white roses with the blood, seeping from a bloody heart (as featured in the supporting video). And that is quite something to say because Grimes has certainly had her moments.

Listen on Apple Music

If I might say CRAY does appear unstoppable in her quest for music mastery. She might want to consider sticking with the pop direction she is dabbling in for a few more tracks. I feel she is onto something with “Roses R Red” and that she has both scope and vision to uniquely carve out her own brand of bubble-pop. She may have earned acclaim for her energetic DJ sets but nonetheless seems ready to take the world by storm as a budding pop songstress as well. What shines most brightly is her own personality, and empowering spirit. And while CRAY isn’t a familiar household name like Katy Perry I’m sure she could be if she put her mind to it.

Watch “Troubled Paradise” by Slayyyter https://eqmusicblog.com/watch-troubled-paradise-by-slayyyter/ Mon, 25 Jan 2021 09:06:25 +0000 https://eqmusicblog.com/?p=29582 If she rolls out more 80 vibed electro-pop songs like "Troubled Paradise." We expect our music diet to feature more slayyyter this year.

Popstar wannabe Slayyyter has a reputation which stands before her as being provocative, larger than life and pretty sharp to the point with her narratives. She comes across as a spikey individual, who like Marmite, you either like or loathe. Because sometimes her music can be easily digested while at other times harder, to swallow. There is no middle-ground, Slayyyter is an all or nothing kind of girl. She follows the same lane as Brooke Candy, as both thrive on being unconventional. A favourable point about her is the DIY aesthetic she abides by, until, the current single and exotic music video for “Troubled Paradise” arrived, the independant artistry was the only thing about the music that I really liked. When I’m in the situation of feeling uncertain about anything or anyone, I still assume it best to keep my opinion wide open. Therefore I was still a little bit, curious about the new track “Troubled Paradise” although I wasn’t prepared to have any feelings about it either way. Not least that when I pressed play on it, it would click with me instantly.

Listen on Apple Music

With “Troubled Paradise” it is the first time I am seeing Slayyyter properly, live out her Britney Spears dreams. Did her involvement with Kim Petras on the Charli XCX track “Click” in someway help to affirm her goals. In many strengths “Troubled Paradise” feels like it would make a good, choice of track, for Kim. What with its 80s electro-pop vibe.

Slayyyter has announced the single as the title-track from her upcoming debut album. She says of the album,

“I like doing things myself, I always have in every aspect of life. These days, you can make big budget-sounding pop, but have it be totally DIY. These songs are just written by me and, my friends. I want to keep the ideas raw.”

If she adheres to the plan detailed above and continues rolling out electro-pop songs like “Troubled Paradise.” I expect my music diet to feature a lot more Slayyyter this year.
