Merely noticing this girlie collaboration on paper was enough to have me salivating for the “ATTENTION!” release day. After the summer of Kylie followed by the summer of Charli XCX, the successor the summer of Kesha is now undoubtedly in full swing. I’ll admit to not being fully switched on into Kesha mode until the recent arrival of “Boy Crazy“. And while it took me a little longer than most to jump back on the Kesha train, she had me at the mention of boys and certainly has me gripped even tighter, bringing on her upcoming “TiTS OUT” tour openers Slayyyter and Rose Gray. I mean, it’s just such a cool idea but also embodies the essence of love and connection Kesha is striving for in the new music and tour in equal measure.

It’s clear that the July 4th (Independence Day) release of the album – “.(PERIOD)” is not just a celebration; it’s a strategic move by Kesha to grab the spotlight with her “ATTENTION!” initiative. Equally exciting is the introduction of SMASH, a groundbreaking community platform designed for creators to connect, collaborate, and hire one another on their own terms. Plus, it’s exciting to see Slayyyter and Rose Gray following in Tom Aspaul‘s footsteps as he recently opened for Kesha’s UK shows. Each of them is making waves as independent artists and gaining well-deserved recognition!

I’ve been following Rose Gray‘s career for a while now, and her recent track “Ecstasy” really caught my attention. Her music has always been great, but this new release just has that extra something special that makes it stand out. And now with “Happiness,” she’s done it again – combining dancefloor-friendly beats with pop sensibility to create a track that’s impossible not to love.

Lunar June treads a path of sonic bliss with her dreamy electronic pop reawakening. The debut EP, “jaded/faded,” is evidence of Lunar’s prodigious talent and great potential. Further, affirming that the music she is currently making has much to enthral.

It is rare for a newcomer to hold nothing back. And ALF clearly knows what he wants to convey in his songs. There is a great deal of lyrical bite embodied in lines like “Letting you just rip me apart to fill my heart’s void, You’re killing me.” In terms of music, this track packs a notable punch. Yet, the vocals are suitably endearing. Undoubtedly he comes into his element when song-writing. In any event, I fully expect ALF to gain momentum.

Gabi Goldman is a talented musician with an absolutely magnetic voice. Her debut track, “Body Heat,” is a shimmering masterpiece that will inevitably catch the attention of anyone who loves lush, gorgeous pop music with meaningful lyrics.

Having been an artist on the ascent for a while, the recent track “Ecstasy” is where Rose Gray made me sit up and listen to what she had to say. However, “Ecstasy” served as the concluding song of her “Higher Than The Sun” sophomore EP campaign. Therefore, I knew there would be a wait until new material from her surfaced. The good news is that Rose is a buzz artist these days and will be performing at some festivals this summer. Therefore as I hoped, Rose has at least one new song, “Happiness,” up her sleeve in readiness to share. Since Gray’s music blends fluoro dance-pop with retro elements, making it irresistible to dance to. This currently marks Rose out as a dream artist for any festival line-up.

While coming up through the ranks, Rose has made no secret of where her music inspiration stems from. In fact, I wholly appreciate Rose’s honesty about where she draws her musical inspiration from. She’s been vocal about Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite and 90s dance music artists being major influences on her sound. You can undoubtedly hear those hints in her music, but in her latest song, “Happiness,” Rose takes it to the next level. She brilliantly blends the grooves of Deee-Lite’s “Groove Is In The Heart” with references to the catchy beats of Crystal Waters‘ iconic dance track “Gypsy Woman.” It’s a perfect fusion that showcases her talent and love for the genre.

Rose’s music is perfect for the dancefloor and has a pop-sensible appeal that is hard to resist. She truly has the best of both worlds. But what really sets Rose apart is her undeniable star quality and fun aesthetic. Her music is infectious. It’s impossible not to get caught up in the energy or the ebullience feelings she exudes. With Rose Gray, it’s all about finding your bliss and living life to the fullest. She’s an inspiration to us all!

It is because I detected more of a dance vibe in the music that I did not get behind pop riser Rose Gray yet. Since Rose secured a soundtrack feature on the latest FIFA 23 video game. I realise that I maybe should be less dismissive of these effervescent club tracks. This is because, on this soundtrack, only the most fiercely hotly-tipped up-and-comers make the cut. Furthermore, “Ecstasy,” the latest focus of just unleashed sophomore EP “Higher Than The Sun,” is a track produced by Alex Metric, and I cannot remember when in all honesty, the last time was that Alex was featured on this blog.

If you haven’t heard, Rose Gray’s gradual progression into rave bops has picked up pace in recent months. The arrival of the “Higher Than The Sun,” EP, the track “Prettier Than You,” and the Fifa Soundtrack has raised her profile to no end. Although it is the electrifying EP lead track, “Ecstasy,” that impresses me the most. This song taps into a 90s pop vibe and is reminiscent of what an Alice Deejay and bubblegum pop cocktail might sound like. In that, the track is pretty high-octane and uplifting. (Hence the song title).

As mentioned above, the song draws inspiration from retro vibes. When considering the music video director, Rauri Cantelo‘s aim for “Ecstasy“…

“Was to create a weird and wonderful world that employs a crossover between those iconic late 90s/early 00s music videos and the new wave sci-fi era of the 60s/70s”.

Therefore, this is why we see Rose transformed into a scientist but given a futuristic twist. In a clip conveying a sense of duality of creator vs created. And with a sense of clinical yet playful hyper-realness.

Summing up. Rose Gray is emerging as one of the hottest rising artists right now. In particular, with fans of Little Boots and Lady Keir in mind, she is bound to be your next favourite artist. In 2023, we should expect Rose to garner even greater attention as a result of, “Ecstasy” and because she promises more music is on the way.
